The design also needs the right structure

Start with the look you love, then we check it can be made at the right size, travel without trouble, be ready on time, and sit safely once it's there.

Small cakes can't always carry as many figures, tiers, flowers, toppers, or edible images as a large reference cake.

Common limits to mention early

The main limits are lead time, servings, height, finish, room temperature, travel distance, theme detail, colours, food-safe decorations, and whether it needs fondant or custom toppers.

For an outdoor party, warm room, long display window, or longer pickup journey, say so before the design is finalised.

Questions about this topic

Can every reference photo be copied?

No. A reference guides the direction. The final cake still has to suit the size, budget, structure, timeline, and transport plan.

What should I do if my idea is complex?

Send it early and flag the must-have details alongside your servings and timeline.
